CrossFit Master WODs

Want to compete??????

Here is the scoop.
Every week on Tuesday we will put up a workout, we will video tape standards and describe the workout. Any Master from around the world can complete this workout with the standards set. There is 12 day time limit on submitting results for each WOD. When submitting results be sure to include your age, birth date, sex and afffiliate name if you belong to one. Results will be categorized into age brackets in alignment with the brackets that have been announced for 2011 CrossFit Games plus a few others (40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+). We can break down the age brackets past 65+ if there is a need, just send us your thoughts.

It would be great to have a collection of our workouts on video. If you video your workout email the video link to: terry@crossfitexcel.com and we will get it posted.

WODs will be created keeping the physical capabilities of CrossFit Masters in mind.

This post has been tagged in all categories so people can see what Categories have been created. All WODS will be tagged with appropriate categories to help in searches for previous results.

Feel free to submit comments for any suggestions or ideas.

I am at a new affiliate Crossfit Feather River and the oldest one inthe gym… THANK YOU.
I don’t think I will continue to always feel so discouraged. How do I get my gym listed?

  4. Ian MacLeod says:

    Hello,

I am wondering if any of you have had problems with registrering for the Crossfit Masters Games. I have tried 3x, and have been unsuccessful. There does not appear to be a ‘submit’ link on any page, and ‘reviewing order’ sends me to the ‘store’, where I am told my shopping cart is MT! Grrr. My e-mail is imaccrec@gmail.com if there is some help to be had.

I am thrilled to have discovered this site. I was a little disappointed that I hadn’t discovered it sooner but will complete all the WODs. I went to post my results for WOD #5 (rx’d 8:59) but discovered I was too late (?) however on this page it states there is no time limit in posting results. Is there a way to post results of previous WODs for those of us just discovering this site?

    • Terry Dickman says:

Thanks for pointing this out Sharon. When we started this we didn’t realize we would have such a big response so I changed the time limit to two weeks, other wise I would have to continuously sort results for the WODs. Looks like I missed editing this one post. But I will send you a link so you can get yours listed to.

  7. Tim Anderson says:

    Hey Terry,
We did Helen today, so I finally have a ‘real’ score for that benchmark. Last two times we’ve done it up here in the mountains we’ve had to row instead of run. My time was 10:04, if you wouldn’t mind putting that in my benchmarks.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Terry,

This will be great as I have wondered how I compare to others of the same age group. Unfortunately I’ve missed the first six wods but I will do them all eventually.
    Keep up the good work….

  9. Troy Miller says:

Hey Terry, thanks for putting this together. It’s been a lot of fun. After the 6th wod is over are you going to rank everybody in final standings? It would be interesting to see how that shakes out.

    Thanks,
    Troy

    • RayG says:

When the sixth WOD is closed, next Wednesday, we will have the results for the first six computed. Any suggestions on how we might analyze the data. I was thinking just rank the ones who performed within the groups of results reported and average the results over 6, the number of wods. If you did not do a wod and want to “make it up” between now and next Tuesday, let us know, though, at this point, I don’t know if we can modify the past history that is “Closed”.

Great site! Just learned about it this week and want to mix in these wod’s with those from CF Montgomery County. Being the “old guy” at the gym it’s great to see that my numbers are good for my age. Of course, it’s always good when I hand in there with the young guys at the gym!

  11. Hello Terry,
Thanks for setting up this site. It is a wonderful idea. Our son got us into crossfit about three years ago, and I think the Lord himself got us into CrossFit Works in Tucson, one of the most amazing affiliates around. Chauncey found your site and spread the word to the older crowd in our gym, and we’re in! This is a really useful training aid. Hope to meet you some day and thank you personally. Great work!
    Best,
    Steve

  12. Joey Pietri says:

Wow !!!! Terry , Great work Thanks for building this site. Great motivator, and it’s awesome to see the response .
    I will spread the word.

    So cool…

    M/42/6’0″/175lbs

I’m a CrossFitter/cyclist following CFEndurance (S&C and Endurance), but will throw some of these WODs in for some extra hard efforts and fun competition! Love the idea…

  14. Jay Thomas says:

Terry, great effort on your part! Wonderful way to bring the Masters Crossfit community together. I hope that this website can help serve as outlet to generate growth and interest in Crossfit so that other master age people may have yet another fitness option and fewer reasons to adopt a sedentary lifestyle. I will look forward to posting. Let us know what else we may do to help support your effort. Thanks again for taking this on.

  15. john berube says:

Awsome site, can’t wait to go to the box and do the first WOD.

  16. Roger Smethurst says:

Hi Terry, greetings from Brisbane, Australia and congratulations on a great initiative!! This will be a great resource and I look forward to representing CrossFit Brisbane within the community. I don’t have a big peer group in my local box so this is very meaningful to me. I refer to myself as the CrossFit Fossil and it has resonated with a few others in the global community – a friend provided me with a CF Fossil logo which I will happily share for the amusement of the group if you are ok… meanwhile, looking forward to hitting WOD #1 in our friday open gym session and posting the result over the weekend. btw, the Fossil credo is “the older a Fossil gets the harder it becomes”.. cheers

  17. Jane Holgate says:

Hi from the UK – me, my husband and a couple of friends would love to join in – it sounds great…. just to confirm – this is completely separate from the games isn’t it?

    • Terry Dickman says:

Hi Jane, Correct. This has nothing to do with the Games. It’s for fun. We thought it would be a good way to asses your fitness against other Masters.

  18. Chauncey says:

We might have some folks from Tucson interested- trying to organize. Great idea- thanks for putting it out there!

  19. coach b says:

    i am in!! geezers rule!!!

  20. Jojo says:

    Hi Terry,

Is there a way to sort the comments to show the latest on the top of the page and the oldest comments on the bottom? I’m just looking ahead when we may have over 100 comments due to results posting, and it would be great to get it in that order.

    Thanks,
    Jojo

  21. Bonnie Lynn says:

    Great job, Terry!

  22. Celeste Schultz says:

Site looks Great. Nice job! Can’t wait itll it’s up and running ;0)

  23. Terry says:

    @Jojo,
That’s true. Even at 1 per week not sure if there is much time before the online qualifiers. I was thinking the site could be used more long term for Masters to have fun with as opposed to a pre CF Games measurement tool, plus not all of us will make it past online qualifiers.

I think in reality it would have been best to start this up right after the Games, but better late than never.

  24. Jojo says:

This is happening pretty fast… I’m impressed at your work, Terry.. luv it.

So you think every two weeks vs weekly?? That leaves us with maybe 10 or less WODS until the games if done twice a month. Sectionals and qualifiers will be coming up sooner than that.

    Jojo

  25. Ray Garcia says:

Hi Terry, thanks for the effort. I am in. Bring on the WOD!
